My take aways from the Village Project are…
- Keep your ears/eyes open, when taking to one child my sure you can pay attention to others around them as well
- Keep your mind open, kids have lots to say and some things you won’t understand at first. Keep trying to understand it will make sense eventually!
- Smile! Stay welcoming.
- When working with younger kids get to their height
- Work with supporting teachers/staff
- Explain your thoughts out loud, it will help kids better understand want you want from them
- Connect with kids, you’re not just their teacher but someone they should look up to and enjoy being around
- Use the resources you have available to you
- If you don’t get through the lesson plan that is AOK!
- Everyone needs a break/calm day. Watch a movie instead and start over the next day
